So the Septics were 17 years late, instead of just 2?

Was this why he and Tony Bath always seemed to come up with 6-army variations for sub-rulesets like DBA?

That has merit, but where does that leave the ACW? It used both and that war is massively gamed in the states and UK, so would impact the listings.

I'd put civil war into the Muzzle area. Austrto Prussian is a hard one, but Pranco Frussian is def Breechloaders. Maybe 1867 is the cut.

Agreed, I edited the list accordingly.

The post-1950 period is a little hard as well - mostly I'd class it as Guerilla/Small Force wars but that ignores the massive conventional battles of the Middle East (Iran/Iraq, US/Iraq)

As we can safely chuck all ancient sub periods in to one, might I suggest this as an A list:

Ancients.
Horse and musket.
Modern.
Fantasy.

I always see loads of those games at shows.

I don't really care… I'm happy doing what I do. If that's the same as someone else, well, that's nice, but whether it's 'trendy', or on the 'A' list, or the 'Z' list is more or less immaterial - because what counts is whether each of us is enjoying our version of the hobby.

Having said all that, people seem to have missed two 'periods', as far as I can see, and which are probably in a list of their own - Fantasy and SF. In terms of popularity, they probably form the AA list, ahead of the A list.
Being friendly is much more important than being right.

As stated above: this is just harmless fun that matters not one jot. Also noted that fantasy in all it's manifest forms really is the real 'A list' so thanks for clarifying that.

At last this gives me my longed for B list… game over.
